About the bird

The details matter to us!  So much so, you'll see the origami crane represented throughout our brand.

You see, the ancient art of origami is a series of careful and methodical moves that require planning, foresight, patience, and experience. Folds must be made in sequence with precision and delicacy for best results. The crane specifically, is the most recognizable origami figure, was seen as a mythical creature by the Japanese, and was thought to live for a thousand years thus symbolizing fortune and longevity.

The tradition of folded napkins goes back for centuries as a marker joyous occasion and pageantry. Folded napkins or ‘Triumphs’ would often depict animals or other fixtures of nature and would traditionally be placed in the center of tables for guests who were related to the bride and groom. Later, these napkin triumphs were replaced by porcelain table sculptures; we continue this tradition today now known as the centerpiece.

Wherever our crane appears, know we are working to serve you and your guests with the highest level of detail in order to preserve the history of such an iconic symbol.
